Back in the mid-70s, brothers Mike and Luke Lincoln,
spent many Fall weekends at Chicago Bears and Northwestern University football
games. Neither team was strong back then
and tailgating was often the highlight of the day. It didn't matter how good the teams were on
the field; everyone always had fun outside of the stadium.
The vivid memories of spirited fans eating and
drinking around their parked cars before and after games never faded. The
brothers talked for years about starting a company offering products for tailgaters.
While studying for his MBA, Luke researched the idea for a marketing
class. Demand was there and in 1996 the
brothers launched The American Tailgater Company.
From portable grills and toilets to high-flying flags
and snack helmets, the company's products have been scooped up by tailgating
aficionados around the world. Today the
American Tailgater has evolved into the leading authority in parking lot dining
and entertainment.
